Dry Ice Blasting is used extensively in the tire manufacturing industry. Nearly every major tire manufacturing plant cleans molds hot and in-place using Dry Ice Blasting. Dry Ice Blasting removes built up release agents and other unwanted residues from molds. These unwanted buildups can cause sticking of parts during release, flash, blemishes and also make it difficult to hold part tolerances. Because the tooling can be cleaned right at the press while still hot, Dry Ice Blasting reduces potential damage to the molds because no removal or reinstalling is required. Compared to cooling the molds, removing them from the press and cleaning them in a remote location, dry ice blasting results in significantly greater productivity.
